Soap films
Here are a number of close-up photographs of thin soap films illuminated by a sodium vapor lamp. The first image provides a sense of scale, measured in millimeters. The dark and light regions correspond to different thickness of the fllm; they are produced by the interference of light waves reflecting from the front and back surfaces of the thin film. These photos were acquired with a Canon XHA1 fitted with a macro lens.
