Elise Sloey wins 2017 Kepler Award

Elise Sloey, (a biochemistry major and physics minor at Wisconsin Lutheran College) was recently awarded the 2017 Kepler Scholarship. Congratulations Elise!

The Kepler Scholarship is awarded annually to a student who is pursuing a major or a minor in physics at Wisconsin Lutheran College, and who exhibits virtues of the intellect and of character. The Kepler Scholarship is valued at $1000.

During the past academic year, Elise—along with Amelia Lauth—have been working in the fluid dynamics labs at Wisconsin Lutheran College developing an apparatus to study hydrodynamic turbulence in flowing soap films. She reported on this work in April at the 2017 WLC Undergraduate Research Symposium.

This summer, Elise is in Minnesota where she is doing research through the SURF (summer undergraduate research fellowship) program at the Mayo Graduate School.
