What is the nature of light? In this course, we will study a wide range of texts, beginning with the work of Gilbert, Coulomb, and Ampere on electricity and magnetism, and culminating with the electromagnetic theory of light, as developed by Faraday and Maxwell.

Lectures will be held during the Fall of 2018 in Generac Hall at Wisconsin Lutheran College on Monday, Wednesday and Friday from 10:30 - 11:20 and on Thursday from 11:30 - 12:20. In addition, laboratory sessions will be held of Thursday and Friday from 12:30 - 3:20; the Friday laboratory session will be taught by Professor Aaron Schindler; the Thursday lab will be taught by myself.
