Since I was ill last week, we will begin this week going over the syllabus and talking a bit about the nature of this course. Then we will proceed into discussion of the General Education Portfolio.

Initial General Education Portfolio Phase 1 (Bring laptops)

Explain General Education Artifacts and Summaries

Explain the purpose of this portfolio
Explain how students know which artifacts will be uploaded throughout their journey at WLC
Explain which artifacts students are expected to upload for the LAS 101 requirement
Explain, model, and practice writing artifact summaries (see syllabus section XII #2 for example)

Advising Notes: Friday, week 2 is the last day to DROP A COURSE; Your COL 101 instructor remains your academic advisor. It is recommended that you remain in regular contact with him/her throughout the semester.

Liberal Arts Seminar (LAS 101)

This course will introduce students to a liberal arts curriculum in a confessional Lutheran context. This course is intended to prepare students to consider their college careers as valuable in themselves, applicable to all aspects of one’s life, and to facilitate a deep curiosity for learning that extends beyond one’s years in formal education.
